But if you’re off on a sporty trip, you may prefer a camcorder that can match your speed and daring exploits! So check out all our tips for choosing a camera and camcorder guaranteed to keep up with your pace for an unforgettable holiday.

Which camera’s best for a seaside holiday?

A holiday by the sea means tons of sand and saltwater! During a holiday in the sun, you may head off on a dive or simply snap your little ones as they go for a paddle or learn their first strokes. So, if you’re off to the coast, you’ll need a camera that’s not scared of water or sand. You may also want to film your skateboard tricks along a boardwalk or surf the Basque Country’s finest waves, in which case you’ll want to reach for your Action Cam!

A hard-as-nails camera that can withstand any day at the beach

Here at AgfaPhoto, we developed the Realishot WP8000 digital camera, a waterproof device that can handle up to 3 metres in depth!

Its waterproof housing makes it perfect for any nautical escapade from underwater selfies to incredible dives, thrilling surfing sessions and any other seaside activity you’d like to snap without damaging your camera. Obviously, this waterproof camera needs to do more than deal with extreme environments, so it’s equipped with superb presets to ensure fantastic shots: sports, beach, evening, night, landscape or portrait, it is up to you to choose the one that matches the setting. If you’re not sure which mode to choose, go for the automatic mode and let the camera’s integrated software work its magic.

One thing kids and adults love when at the seaside is snapping all the fish that cross their paths! The Realishot WP8000 is the go-to for underwater portraits and selfies. It has a high-performance CMOS sensor and a dual screen, for perfectly framed selfies. You’ll also be able to take videos thanks to the 1.8” front LCD screen – time to take on that starring role!

Another thing about days at the beach is having to lug your gear around! So you’ll need a compact and lightweight camera! The WP8000 weighs a mere 122g and comes with a protective cover, so you can easily slip it in your beach bag.

Kids will also want to snap their seaside antics! AgfaPhoto’s got them covered with robust child-friendly devices such as the Realikids Cam Waterproof. Just pop it in your beach bag, so the kids can capture all their maritime (or land-based) shenanigans!

What about opting for an Action Cam?

If you want to immortalise your ultra-sporty seaside holiday and share your experience on social networks, then grab an Action Cam!

  • Which camera to choose ?

    Which camera to choose ?

If you want to capture the best moments of everyday life, you need a new camera. But what should you choose? There’s a huge variety of models, all with different lenses, and all with different photo quality.

AgfaPhoto was founded with the aim of making photography accessible to everyone, from 3 to 103 years old! With this in mind, we’d like to guide you in choosing a camera that’s perfectly suited to your needs.

Discover all the criteria that will help you choose your camera from the AgfaPhoto online shop !

What are the different types of camera ?

To choose the right camera, it’s essential to know the differences between the models you’ll find on our website. At AgfaPhoto, you’ll find digital cameras, film cameras, disposable cameras and instant cameras. All these models have different parameters, designs and purposes. So let’s take a closer look at the different features of these types of camera.

    Digital camera

A digital camera (or APN) is a device that records images directly onto a memory card rather than onto film. The camera collects the light via an electronic sensor, and the information received is then digitally encoded before appearing on the screen so that you can view the photo taken.

Did you know that the very first digital camera was developed in 1979 ? It was a prototype that weighed 3.5kg !

Digital camera refers to a category of cameras that includes compact and bridge models, for example. Digital, however, refers to the method by which the image is captured and recorded.

At AgfaPhoto, we offer digital cameras in our Realishot range. You’ll find models that are perfect for discovering the world of photography, but also for meeting all your needs and desires !

Last but not least, digital cameras are popular because they are compact, take up little space and can easily be slipped into a bag.

    Film camera

When we talk about film cameras, we’re referring to a model that has a long history in the world of photography. Yes, this type of camera was widely used before the advent of digital photography !

A film camera differs from a digital camera in that it uses a film rather than an electronic memory. It is on this film that the picture is recorded. With a film camera, you can take photos in black and white, but also in colour, depending on the film you choose. What’s special about film cameras is that you only see the photos you’ve taken once they’ve been developed !

Most of the models you’ll find in our online shop are equipped with 35mm sensors, so you can take high-quality photos with all the charm of film! What’s more, AgfaPhoto models are reusable: all you have to do to restart a series of photos is put in a new roll of film.

Note that film cameras are renowned for their ability to withstand light very well. They also have a flash, so you can take photos indoors, for example.

  • What’s the best children’s camera ?

    What’s the best children’s camera ?

From an early age, children have a constant urge to be creative. Most often, little ones start with drawing to develop their imagination, but also their motor skills. From a creative point of view, photography can come naturally after the drawing phase. It’s a way to capture memories, have fun and develop ingenuity.

Of course, choosing a children’s camera is important, as a model must be selected that is appropriate for the age and types of snapshots your child will be taking. AgfaPhoto accompanies all photo lovers from 3 to 103 years old! We will help you choose the best camera for your child.

Here are all our tips on how to give your child a camera to capture all the best moments !

Why should you give your child a camera ?

At a time when smartphones have become an integral part of our everyday lives, children are more sensitised to photography than ever. From a young age, they are used to posing, taking selfies and then checking on the screen to see if the snapshot is satisfactory. The problem with smartphones, however, is that they are devices designed for adults only !

If your child shows a real interest in photography, why not give them their own camera ?

Framing, zooming, grinding, cutting, daring, printing: a children’s camera offers so many possibilities! In this respect, it is an excellent way to encourage your little one’s creativity. Photography is an art in itself and enables children to train their sense of detail and their powers of observation.

It is also a means of developing imagination, as it involves looking for scenes and objects that can be photographed. You will soon realise that the photos taken by your child will help you to better recognise their interests. This is because young children attach great importance to photographing objects, people and places that are important to them.

A camera for children also trains their memory ! The photos, which are saved on the camera using an SD card, can be looked at later so that the children remember what they did that day. In the same sense, taking photos allows the little ones to communicate and express their preferences: When looking at the photos, they can recreate emotional memories and explain to their parents what they liked best on holiday, for example.

Finally, by owning their own camera, children can also take on responsibility. Even if each camera model is adapted to the age of the child, it is still an object that needs to be looked after.

Criteria for choosing the right children’s camera

Choosing the best camera for children means first and foremost selecting a camera that is appropriate for their age and needs. It is also about paying attention to the different functions that each camera offers.

The age of the child : an essential criterion

From the age of three, children can start to discover photography with their own camera. At AgfaPhoto, we have decided to develop a children’s range that is accessible from the age of 3. All our children’s models can therefore be used up to the age of around 12.

Age is an important criterion, as it has an impact on the handling of the camera. It is very important that your child can grasp the camera with their small hands. An object that is too large is too difficult to grip and your child could drop it when using it.

The Realikids Cam Mini measures 83x60x58mm and is a compact, ergonomic camera that even the smallest children can easily grasp to take the most beautiful pictures. Some models can also be equipped with a small handle that allows the child to hold and stabilise the camera to frame the scenes.

In addition to the ergonomics and dimensions of the camera, accessories such as a neck strap or hand strap are also important.
